À propos de Reema

Je suis un étudiant diplômé qui poursuit une maîtrise en sciences à l'Université de l'Alberta. J'ai récemment terminé mon baccalauréat en sciences biologiques et avant cela, j'ai obtenu mon diplôme avec mention et terminé le programme du baccalauréat international (IB) en Alberta. J'ai également reçu un crédit de transfert pour l'anglais!

À propos du cours

J'aime donner aux élèves la possibilité de poser des questions dès le début de la leçon sur le contenu qu'ils ont traité en classe. Ensuite, je fais des cours adaptés aux besoins de l'élève, par exemple s'ils apprennent mieux avec des visuels, j'ai des ressources pour cela. Si une conversation sur des sujets difficiles fonctionne mieux, je peux le faire aussi. J'aime rendre chaque sujet facile à comprendre et accessible aux étudiants. J'aime donner du matériel de pratique car ils permettent à l'élève de rendre les informations apprises plus concrètes et de ne pas avoir à les mémoriser trop durement.

Liena works hard and is an absolute trooper when it comes to longer lessons or trying to understand concepts and keeping in the focus zone for long periods of times! She also communicates when she wants me to slow down or re-explain and is an absolute pleasure to tutor!

When and why did you develop an interest in your chosen field?
I developed an interest in tutoring when I first started working in a tutoring company in Edmonton. That was my first experience tutoring in 2019. Since then, I've enjoyed every interaction I've had with my students and taken great joy in seeing them improve!
What makes you passionate about your subject?
I think what makes me passionate about Math and Science is the fact that when I was doing them the first time around, not a lot made sense so I had to adapt and come up with simple strategies. Now its become enjoyable because I see patterns in the numbers and trends in Science.
What do you like about tutoring? What makes you a "Superprof"?
What I enjoy the most about tutoring is seeing the "aha" moment in my students when I am able to explain something that they didn't previously understand. The second comes when my students send me a message and let me know about how they made the mark cutoff for a scholarship or the next course they wanted to take. What makes me a Superprof is that I listen to students' concerns and where they are having trouble understanding and cater my teaching style to their needs. I also like to keep parents fully engaged in the tutoring process so they're able to see measurable progress.
Do you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you? Please explain.
A couple of my role models are my mom, who taught me to always work hard and never give up, and my grade 10 science teacher who taught me learning can be so much fun!
What are your keys to success?
1) Never be afraid to ask questions, even if you have to ask them a few times to a few different people
2) Always have a goal or a desired grade in mind
3) You have to put in the work and practice to achieve
